Why is font size no longer important
This is more of a rant than a question.
My first PC had an 800x600 resolution (Maybe some of you are too young to
remember those days), now I'm up to 1920x1080. I'm not a web designer but
a heavy user. I have a question for you designers, why do you use such
small fonts? This is a HTML issue not an OS issue nor a browser issue!
About 70% of the sites I visit require me to 'zoom in' just so I can read
that tiny text. I have to sit with my eyes about a foot away from the
screen. Even now, typing this, I have zoomed in 150%. On 100% zoom, the
body of the page uses 50% of the center of my screen, that's 25% on each
side that is just wasted space. Some web sites do it right, most others
not so much.!
Look at all that wasted space
Please, for the love of God, when you build a page, detect the resolution
and size your pages accordingly. Technology is moving forward so should
your fonts.
